In the UK, Big Brother is one of their most popular shows. It’s exported to other countries too, under license, and consequently is also popular in other parts of the world, where contestants also gain quite a bit of fame from being on it. It helps if the contestants are also hot n’ sexy, and in the UK, a lot of them are, like Imogen Thomas, Chanelle Hayes, and from last season, cutie Emily Parr. She’s a blonde 19-year old drama student and indie rock fan, and though was popular with the viewers, was the first person booted out of the house because of some controversial remark.

And then there’s Jade Goody. She became popular because her ignorance was entertaining, and she became a multi-millionaire because of her business moves after the show was over, capitalizing on her popularity then. She even got on Celebrity Big Brother afterwards, and controversy also reared its head on that show, with her bullying of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. But her career continues, with another autobiography coming out, as well as a TV show.
